About Guideway

Guideway is a multidisciplinary business bringing practical financial-advice expertise and technology together.

We’re building an all-in-one, agentic CRM and advice platform for Australian financial advisers. Our aim is to replace the fragmented software stack advisers use today with one connected system—from client relationships and information gathering to financial modelling, recommendations, advice documents and ongoing workflows.

AI is central to the product. We’re developing agents that can understand client context, coordinate work and carry out tasks with appropriate permissions and adviser oversight. Financial calculations remain deterministic and traceable, while AI supports the information processing, reasoning and workflows around them.

The platform has an existing codebase and documented architecture. We’re looking for an experienced engineer to help continue its development, deliver core features and strengthen the way we build with AI.

About the role

You’ll work closely with the the executive leading this business area, who provides the product direction and domain expertise. You’ll contribute engineering judgement, help shape technical approaches and translate agreed priorities into reliable, usable software.

AI-assisted coding is central to this role. We use tools such as Codex and Claude Code extensively throughout development. You should be comfortable directing coding agents, assessing their work and applying your own technical expertise to carry an implementation through to completion.

This is a hands-on role spanning feature development, AI integration and the ongoing improvement of an existing platform. We’re looking for someone who can understand complex requirements, make sound technical recommendations and solve challenging engineering problems independently.

We welcome applications from experienced Senior or Lead Engineers, as well as strong Full Stack Engineers ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll need the technical depth and judgement to work independently, contribute to technical decisions and deliver complex features, with scope to grow your responsibilities as the platform develops.

What you’ll do

Continue developing the platform and deliver core features across the adviser experience.

Work with the founder to translate financial-advice requirements into practical product functionality.

Build AI agents, integrations and workflows that use client context to help advisers complete their work.

Use AI coding agents extensively across investigation, implementation, review and testing.

Improve our AI development workflow through better task briefs, codebase context, agent instructions and verification.

Refactor and simplify the existing codebase as the product matures, improving maintainability while preserving established behaviour and financial correctness.

Contribute to architecture and technical decisions, explaining options and trade-offs clearly.

Maintain software quality through appropriate testing, debugging, security and performance improvements.

Help prepare the platform for production and support reliable releases as it develops.

Our technology

Our core stack is TypeScript, React, Node.js and PostgreSQL, with AWS services, Temporal workflows and Claude / OpenAI integrations.

Development makes heavy use of Codex and Claude Code. You don’t need prior experience with every tool, but you should be confident learning the surrounding stack.

What you’ll bring

Strong experience developing full stack applications with TypeScript, React and Node.js.

Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including schema changes.

Practical experience using AI coding agents to deliver working software.

The technical depth to understand, challenge and improve AI-generated implementations.

Experience turning complex business requirements into maintainable, usable features.

Sound judgement about architecture, refactoring, testing, security and software quality.

A track record of independently solving challenging engineering problems.

Clear communication and the ability to explain technical recommendations to a domain expert.

Independent working habits and confidence collaborating remotely.

Experience taking a product into production or providing hands-on technical leadership would be valuable. The responsibilities can reflect your experience and strengths.
